The Accelerate Africa Tanzania network, in collaboration with AIM startups, has officially launched a competition that will enable entrepreneurs from Tanzania to get funding to attend the AIM Congress 2024, which will be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE in May 2024.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam during the launch of the competition, Tanzania Accelerate Africa coordinator Pendo Lema said that the application process is already underway and entrepreneurs can now register before the deadline of February 16, 2024.
“The application process is already underway, so entrepreneurs who want to apply for this funding must register through the website (Link Below) to get a chance to make a difference in the world of technology,” she said.
She said that the competition will give participants a good opportunity to showcase their innovation and various technologies that are bringing about change in the sector. “If you are just starting out or have just started to gain momentum in your business, this is the step that will help you grow your business further,” said Pendo.
Speaking about some of the benefits of the competition, she said that participants will meet with various experts and stakeholders who have the power to help aspiring entrepreneurs take off.
She said that participants will have the opportunity to exchange experiences with various entrepreneurs, partners, and mentors who will give them advice and ideas on how to progress.
She said that through the major conference, participants can also get the opportunity to find capital as there are many investors who are looking for the right places to invest.
“The winner of this competition will receive many benefits, including credibility and thus attracting investment,” she said.
Regarding the eligibility criteria, she said that the business must be new or have started not long ago, have at least five employees, be in the technology sector, have an innovative business model, and also have at least one professional in technology.
She said that the winners will be funded to attend the AIM Congress 2024, where they will receive accommodation and meals, a visa, a booth at the conference, the opportunity to attend all AIM events, and the opportunity to travel to the desert.
Since there will be only one winner out of 20 who will be selected by the judges, the coordinator called on various donors to come forward to fund the participants who do not win so that they too can have the opportunity to attend the major conference.
“We appeal to various stakeholders, including private institutions, non-governmental organizations, especially those with experience in ICT, to partner with Accelerate Africa so that we can send many entrepreneurs. Their funding is important,” she said.
Accelerate Africa is made up of more than 20 countries in Africa.”
